We have a large, boxy, comfortable couch in our family room that our 11 month old kitten has just started to use as a scratching post. The arms on this couch are wide enough to rest a cup of coffee on so I needed a wide protector. This one fits well and does a good job on coverage. It’s a heavy grade plastic and will not rip easily. It takes a little while to figure out how all the folds work and how it’s going to fit on your couch. Give yourself a couple of minutes. Since I’ve installed the protector the cat has come by and inspected it a couple times but she has never tried to claw or scratch at it. So I think it’s working well. Not shown in the pictures are a couple of non-slip fabric arm covers that I had bought previously. The fabric arm covers help hide the plastic arm protector. You’re not going to be able to hide it from guests but you can cover it up a little. Included with the arm protector were some stick on plastic sheets that you can use on other areas. I haven’t needed them yet so I can’t talk about them. Before I ordered this I was worried that there was only protection for one couch arm but it turns out that’s all I need. For some reason the cat doesn’t bother the other couch arm. I thought after protecting the one arm the cat will surely move to the other arm. Nope, she doesn’t touch the other arm. In addition to this protector I also brought some cardboard scratch pads into the room to give the cat an alternative and the combination seems to be doing the trick.
